If your existing boiler is an old system it is likely to be inefficient, for example a 10-15 years old non-condensing boiler might be G-Rated and therefore only 70% (at best) efficient. So, by converting to a new condensing A-Rated combi boiler, you will have an A+Rated boiler with around 94% efficient, will use less energy and therefore reduce your gas bills. According the Energy Savings Trust this could be as much as £340 per year.
An old boiler is unlikely to be inefficient to run, costing you more money in gas bills to run than a new boiler. Plus the cost of the repair can be often be more than what you’d pay over a year for a new boiler. An old boiler is unlikely to still be in warranty and could breakdown again, costing you more money. With a new boiler, you can get a new boiler with no upfront cost, free warranty on all parts and labour and reduced annual gas bills through energy usage reductions.
